Update Windows USB Drivers in Device Manager.

1. Connect the external drive to the computer using the instructions below.
    Do Not use a USB Hub.

 External Portable Drive
(non-powered)

Instructions

  • Connect one end of the USB cable to the external drive and the other end directly to the USB port on the computer.

External Desktop Drive
(powered)

Instructions

  • Connect the power and USB cable to the external drive.
  • Plug the power adapter of the drive into a wall socket. Do not use a power strip.
  • Connect the other end of the USB cable directly to the USB port of the computer.
