Guided Assist Guided Assist

Description

Resolution

View the Use of Third-Party Software or Websites disclaimer.

  1. Make sure the drives are compatible with the NAS.
Check your vendors list if not listed below.

  2. Power cycle the NAS.

  3. Ensure the drives are firmly seated into the drive slots.

  4. Move the drive into a different drive bay or empty slot.

    STOP Critical:

Moving drives around in an active RAID can potentially corrupt data.
Power OFF and NAS before moving drives.

  5. Check the NAS for driver and firmware updates.

  6. Insert the drive into a desktop computer using a SATA cable.
Use a Powered SATA to USB docking station if a laptop is used.

The USB Port of a laptop may not provide enough power for a 3.5" drive when using a non-powered SATA to USB Cable. A docking station or connector can cause problems with drive detection and testing.

  7. Test the drives for errors.
